Abraxas

Abraxas operates in Terre Siciliane, the expansive wine region of southern Italy that encompasses Sicily's diverse terroirs. The winery focuses on wines built from grapes suited to the Mediterranean climate: Zibibbo, the indigenous white variety that thrives in Sicily's heat, and Grenache and Syrah, which bring structure and depth to blended reds. Passito di Pantelleria, made from sun-dried Zibibbo grapes, represents the winery's expression of this ancient fortified style—a wine of concentration and sweetness born from the volcanic island's extreme conditions. Kuddia di Zé, a Grenache and Syrah blend, offers a different register: the darker fruit and spice characteristic of these varieties in a warm climate. Wine Enthusiast has rated the winery's output, including both the Passito di Pantelleria and Scirafi Passito di Pantelleria, a second expression of the same varietal. The winery's portfolio reflects the technical and stylistic range possible within Sicily's wine culture.
