Franz Sauerstingl works the Weinland region of Niederösterreich, Austria's largest wine zone. The winery focuses on Grüner Veltliner and Roter Veltliner—indigenous white varieties that thrive in the region's continental climate and mineral-rich soils. The Grüner Veltliner Reserve and Löss IV Brunnthal, both Grüner Veltliner expressions, represent the winery's core output, with the latter drawing its character from the loess soils that define much of Weinland's terroir. A Roter Veltliner Reserve rounds out the portfolio. Falstaff has rated these wines, with the Grüner Veltliner Reserve scoring 93 points.
