Raymond Quenard produces wines from Savoie, the Alpine region of eastern France where distinctive local varieties thrive in cool mountain conditions. The winery focuses on two flagship expressions: Chignin-Bergeron, made from Roussanne, and Chignin Mondeuse, built on the dark-skinned Mondeuse Noire grape. Both are rooted in the Chignin appellation, where these varieties have long found ideal terroir. Roussanne, typically high-acid and mineral-driven, expresses itself with particular finesse in Savoie's steep vineyards. Mondeuse Noire, the region's signature red variety, brings structure and earthy complexity. Wine Spectator has rated both wines, with the Chignin-Bergeron earning particular recognition. These are expressions of Alpine winemaking—precise, food-focused, and shaped by the demands of their mountain home.
