Le Miccine produces Sangiovese-based wines from Toscana's Chianti Classico zone, where the grape finds expression across the winery's core range. The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, a pure Sangiovese, represents the top tier of the lineup. Below sits the Chianti Classico Riserva, also Sangiovese, followed by Don Alberto Chianti Classico Riserva—a blend of Colorino del Valdarno, Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, and Canaiolo Nero that draws on the region's traditional field-blend heritage. All three have been assessed by major critics including Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, and Decanter. Chianti Classico itself demands structure and acidity; Sangiovese delivers both, with tannin and cherry-edged fruit as hallmarks. The inclusion of local varieties like Colorino and Canaiolo in the Don Alberto reflects Central Tuscan winemaking custom, where minor grapes add texture and complexity to the dominant Sangiovese base.
