Yes, if you're in the Newmarket area or Suffolk countryside and want pub dining that reliably exceeds the norm. Its Michelin Plate recognition signals a kitchen focused on local produce and technically sound cooking.

Question 2

Who is it for?

Accepted Answer

It's for diners who value local provenance and restrained, well-executed cooking in a relaxed village setting. It suits date nights, low-key special occasions, or as a dining stop for visitors to the nearby racing circuit.

Question 3

What should you order?

Accepted Answer

Look for dishes that foreground the region's produce: game from local estates, heritage-breed pork and beef, coastal fish, and seasonal vegetables. The kitchen's strength is letting these ingredients show through with subtle seasoning.

Question 4

How do you get a table?

Accepted Answer

Booking is advised, especially during the Newmarket racing calendar in spring and autumn. Check the inn's website or contact them directly for reservations.

Question 5

Anything to know before you go?

Accepted Answer

The pub is dog-friendly. It operates as a pub-with-rooms, so you can make a night of it. The village location is a short drive from Newmarket.
