Question 1

Is it worth going out of your way for?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you're seeking a focused, table-service introduction to Burmese cuisine, which is scarce in the suburban D.C. area. It's a destination for its specific culinary niche rather than for critical accolades.

Question 2

Who is it for?

Accepted Answer

Adventurous eaters and small groups interested in exploring a coherent, region-specific menu. It's for those who want to order multiple plates—salads, soups, curries—to appreciate the balance and architecture of a Burmese meal.

Question 3

What should you order?

Accepted Answer

Start with the Green Tealeaf Salad (lahpet thoke), a signature dish that tests a kitchen's seriousness. Follow with the DanPauk or the Pork and Pickled Mango Hin curry, using rice or a noodle soup as a neutral anchor between bolder preparations.

Question 4

How do you get a table?

Accepted Answer

Walk-ins are typical for this casual, family-run spot. It's closed on Mondays and operates for both lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday.

Question 5

Anything to know before you go?

Accepted Answer

Come ready to explore a menu built on balance and contrast. Portions are generous, and the flavors are bold and spicy. It occupies a specific position as a sit-down Burmese restaurant in an area where that format is rare.
