Altano
Altano produces wines from the Douro, Portugal's steep-terraced river valley in the north. The winery draws on indigenous varieties that thrive in this demanding schist-soiled terrain. Quinta do Ataíde, an organic red blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Barroca, represents the house's approach to red winemaking. On the white side, Reserva Branco combines Viosinho, Gouveio, and Rabigato—varieties bred for the region's continental climate and granite-based soils. Both wines have been assessed by Decanter. The Douro's reputation rests on its ability to coax complexity from old vines planted on near-vertical slopes; Altano's portfolio reflects that terroir-driven philosophy.
