Ao Yun (敖云葡萄园)

Ao Yun operates in Yunnan, China's high-altitude wine region, where cool mountain conditions shape the character of its wines. The winery's Xidang Cru blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot—a classical Bordeaux combination that gains structure and precision from the region's elevation and diurnal temperature swings. The Adong Cru, a Chardonnay, reflects the white wine potential of Yunnan's terroir. Both wines have been assessed by Wine Advocate, with the Xidang Cru averaging 92.7 points and the Adong Cru averaging 92.6 points. Yunnan's emergence as a serious wine region rests on its unique geography: vineyards planted at altitudes where continental and subtropical influences converge, producing wines with the ripeness of southern latitudes and the acidity and freshness of cooler zones.
