August Kesseler produces wines from the Rheingau, Germany's premier Riesling region on the Rhine's right bank. The winery's portfolio centers on two varieties: Riesling, the region's signature white, and Pinot Noir, increasingly vital to Rheingau's identity. The Berg Schlossberg Pinot Noir GG and Höllenberg Pinot Noir GG represent the winery's work with the red variety, while the Berg Roseneck Riesling Beerenauslese 'Goldkapsel' showcases the noble rot dessert wines for which the region is celebrated. These wines have been assessed by Falstaff, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, and Decanter. The GG designation—Grosses Gewächs, or great growth—marks dry wines of vineyard distinction under the VDP classification system used by Germany's finest producers.
