Autòcton Celler
Autòcton Celler operates in Penedès, the historic wine region of Catalunya where Mediterranean climate and limestone soils shape distinctive expressions of both native and international varieties. The winery's portfolio centers on three flagships: Tros de Mas Vilella, a Sumoll and Cabernet Sauvignon blend; Gran Autòcton Blanc, built from Xarel-lo; and Mas Vilella, a Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Advocate and Decanter have rated these releases, with Tros de Mas Vilella reaching 91 points and Gran Autòcton Blanc 90.5. The Cabernet-based Mas Vilella scored 90. Penedès has long balanced indigenous grapes—Xarel-lo among them—with Bordeaux varieties, and Autòcton Celler's selections reflect that regional duality. Sumoll, a local red, pairs with Cabernet in their top blend; Xarel-lo, traditionally used for sparkling wine, appears here as a still white. The winery's name itself signals an allegiance to the autochthonous character of its terroir.
