Barré Frères
Barré Frères works across the Loire Valley, drawing from two of its most distinctive terroirs. The winery produces Muscadet from Melon de Bourgogne in the Sèvre et Maine district, where the grape finds mineral precision and saline tension on the region's schist and gneiss soils. Their Célébration Muscadet-Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie and Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie both express this character—the former rated 86 points by Wine Spectator, the latter 85. Inland, Barré Frères also makes Chinon from Cabernet Franc, the Loire's signature red varietal. La Thouette Chinon, their flagship expression, earned 86 points from Wine Spectator and captures the grape's characteristic blend of red fruit, herbaceous notes, and structured tannin. The portfolio reflects a commitment to two complementary expressions of Loire identity: the bright, food-friendly whites of the Atlantic coast and the elegant reds of the central valley.
