Château l'Ermite sits in Costières-de-Nîmes, the southernmost appellation of the Rhône Valley, where Mediterranean warmth and Mistral winds shape wines of dark fruit and mineral tension. The estate works with the classic grapes of Southern Rhône—Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre—building wines that balance ripeness with structure. Epicuria, a Mourvèdre-based expression, leads the portfolio. Sainte Cécile blends Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre into a rounded whole, while Réserve reverses the emphasis, anchoring Syrah and Mourvèdre with Grenache. All three have been assessed by Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, and Wine Advocate. The terroir here—limestone, clay, and alluvial soils—yields wines with the garrigue-tinged character and red-fruit profile typical of the region, without the weight of northern Rhône Syrah or the opulence of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
