Château la Rode produces wines from Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux, a region on Bordeaux's Right Bank known for structured reds built on Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. The winery's flagship, Claud la Chapelle du Château la Rode, blends Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon into a wine that has drawn assessment from Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator. A second expression, the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux, follows a similar varietal framework. Both wines reflect the region's terroir: clay and limestone soils that favor the darker, more structured grapes of the Left Bank, tempered by the softer, fruit-forward character Merlot brings to Right Bank blends. The result is a style poised between power and elegance.
