Château Roumieu

Château Roumieu produces wine in Barsac, the smallest and most prestigious enclave within Bordeaux's Sauternes region. The estate's flagship wine blends Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle—the classic triumvirate of sweet white winemaking in southwest France. Sémillon provides richness and honeyed depth; Sauvignon Blanc contributes aromatic lift and acidity; Muscadelle adds floral complexity. The result is a dessert wine of layered character, built to age. Wine Spectator has rated the Barsac expression, recognizing its balance and structure. Barsac's terroir—clay and limestone soils prone to noble rot—shapes wines of distinctive elegance, less opulent than their Sauternes neighbors but marked by precision and finesse.
