Cortonesi (La Mannella)

Cortonesi operates in Toscana's Montalcino zone, where Sangiovese reaches its most structured expression. The winery's core releases—La Mannella Brunello di Montalcino and its Riserva counterpart—demonstrate the region's signature architecture: dense tannin, earthy depth, and the capacity to age. Both wines have drawn assessment from Falstaff, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, and Decanter. The Riserva, aged longer in oak and bottle, shows particular concentration. Poggiarelli Brunello di Montalcino rounds the portfolio. Montalcino's limestone-clay soils and elevation produce Sangiovese of uncommon power and definition—wines built for the cellar, marked by savory intensity rather than fruit-forward charm. Cortonesi's releases reflect this terroir discipline.
