Dona Matilde

Dona Matilde produces wines from the Douro, Portugal's most celebrated red wine region. The winery draws on the Duriense subregion's steep terraced vineyards and schist soils, where Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and other indigenous varieties thrive in a continental climate moderated by Atlantic influence. The Reserva—a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Amarela, and Touriga Franca—represents the house's core expression, rated 91.1 by prestige critics including Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, and Decanter. The Unoaked Tinto, a pure Touriga Nacional, offers a more direct encounter with the variety's dark fruit and mineral character. Dona Matilde also produces a Colheita Porto, a fortified wine built from five traditional Douro varieties: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cão, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca. These wines reflect the Douro's signature power and structure—dense, age-worthy reds with the region's characteristic balance of ripe fruit and tannin.
