Frank John works in the Pfalz, Germany's warmest wine region, where continental climate and diverse soils create conditions for both classical German whites and increasingly refined reds. The winery's Riesling Bruts—both the 50 and 41—demonstrate the region's capacity for dry, structured sparkling wine built on Riesling's mineral backbone and natural acidity. The Kalkstein Pinot Noir, named for the limestone soils that define its terroir, shows the Pfalz's ability to ripen Pinot Noir to depth and complexity.
