Fritz Waßmer

Waßmer works seventy-nine bottlings out of Baden in southwest Germany, with the Pinot family — Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder, and Spätburgunder — at the centre. Single-vineyard work from Maltesergarten in Schlatt, Kaiserberg in Herbolzheim, and Sommerhalde in Bombach sits above a deep base of varietal bottlings, plus Sekt and a Spätburgunder Weissherbst Beerenauslese for the dessert slot. Critic coverage from Falstaff hovers around 90 across the range. The Reserve Grauer Burgunder is the most consistent introduction; the lieu-dit Weisser Burgunders show where the estate actually pushes.
