Grifalco produces Aglianico from Basilicata, in Italy's volcanic south. The region's mineral-rich soils and continental climate shape wines of structure and depth. Daginestra Aglianico del Vulture Superiore, the winery's flagship, draws from the highest-elevation vineyard sites, where Aglianico develops dark fruit, tannin, and the savory complexity the variety is known for. Damaschito, a second expression, offers similar intensity from the same terroir. Gricos rounds the portfolio. All three wines have been assessed by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, and Wine Advocate. Aglianico itself—a southern Italian workhorse with a reputation for aging potential—finds in Grifalco's hands a vehicle for the particular character of Vulture's volcanic substrate and elevation.
