I Quaranta

I Quaranta splits seven wines between Moscato and Barbera, which is the working shape of Asti. Dorato covers the Moscato side in both the sparkling d'Asti style and a Passito, while Tre Termini, India and Asia carry Barbera d'Asti, two of them at Superiore level. Velours Monferrato Rosso is the one label that steps outside the DOCG frame. Critic coverage is thin — Wine Enthusiast alone, scoring 87 to 90 — so the classification and the grape carry more weight here than the numbers do.
