Il Cocco produces Sangiovese-based wines from Montalcino in Tuscany's heartland. The winery's portfolio centers on the region's defining expressions: Rosso di Montalcino, a lighter, earlier-drinking interpretation; Brunello di Montalcino, the structured, age-worthy standard; and Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, the most concentrated iteration. Sangiovese in this corner of central Italy yields wines of dark fruit and mineral tension, built for the cellar. Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator have rated Il Cocco's releases, with the Riserva commanding particular attention among critics.
