Madeira Vintners produces fortified wines from Portugal's Madeira region, where volcanic soils and Atlantic trade winds shape a distinctive winemaking tradition. The winery works with classic Madeira varieties—Verdelho, Malvasia, Sercial, and Bual—each contributing its own character to the region's oxidative aging process. The Madeira Meio Doce blends four of these grapes into a wine of balanced sweetness and complexity. The Boal 5 Years Old expression showcases the Boal Branco variety in its aged form, where time in barrel develops the deep amber hues and concentrated flavors characteristic of mature Madeira. Both wines have been assessed by Falstaff. Madeira's fortification and extended aging under heat create wines built for longevity and contemplation—vessels that improve over decades in the bottle.
