Márcio Lopes

Márcio Lopes works in the Douro, Portugal's steep-terraced river valley in the north, where granite soils and continental climate shape dense, structured red wines. The winery's portfolio centers on field blends of indigenous varieties—Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, and others—vinified to express the region's mineral character and aging potential. Proibido Grande Reserva, a blend of five varieties including Touriga Nacional and Souzao, has earned recognition from Wine Advocate and Decanter. Proibido Vinha Velha do Pombal, drawn from old vines and composed of six grapes, reflects the traditional Douro approach of co-fermented indigenous cultivars. A white offering, Permitido Branco de Centenaria, rounds the range. These wines embody the Douro's reputation for complexity and depth—reds built for cellaring, whites with mineral tension.
