Mottura works with the indigenous grapes of Salento, the sun-baked peninsula at the heel of Puglia. The winery's portfolio centers on Negroamaro, the dark-skinned variety that defines the region's red wines—structured, earthy, capable of real depth. Salice Salentino, Mottura's flagship expression, showcases what Negroamaro can achieve in these southern vineyards: a wine that has drawn attention from Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. The winery also produces Negroamaro del Salento and Primitivo del Salento, the latter tapping into Puglia's other signature red grape. Primitivo brings riper, more voluptuous character than its Negroamaro counterpart, though both thrive in Salento's Mediterranean climate.
