Muri-Gries operates in Trentino, the southern reaches of Trentino-Alto Adige in Northern Italy, where Alpine influence and Mediterranean warmth shape the terroir. The winery focuses on indigenous varieties suited to the region's cool, mountain-influenced climate. Lagrein, a dark-skinned grape native to the area, forms the backbone of the portfolio. The Weingarten Klosteranger Lagrein Riserva demonstrates the grape's capacity for structure and depth, while the Lagrein Südtirol offers a more direct expression of the variety. Vernatsch, another regional classic, appears alongside Lagrein in the St. Magdalener Südtirol Klassisch, a wine that bridges local tradition with contemporary winemaking.
