Musto Carmelitano

Musto Carmelitano works with Aglianico, the volcanic red grape of Basilicata's Vulture region in southern Italy. The winery's portfolio centers on three expressions of this variety: Pian del Moro, Maschitano Rosso, and Serra del Prete—each drawing character from the mineral-rich soils and elevation of the Vulture appellation. Aglianico demands time and structure; these wines reflect the grape's natural architecture of tannin and acidity, shaped by the region's continental climate and volcanic terroir. Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, and Wine Advocate have all assessed the winery's output, with Pian del Moro leading the range in critical reception. The Vulture zone remains one of southern Italy's most distinctive red wine territories, and Musto Carmelitano's focus on single-vineyard bottlings within it speaks to a commitment to site expression over breadth.
