Poggio Dell'Aquila produces Sangiovese-based wines from Toscana's Montalcino region, where the Brunello designation marks some of Italy's most structured and age-worthy reds. The winery's portfolio centers on three expressions: the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, a wine of concentrated depth aged in oak; the Brunello di Montalcino, the region's flagship expression; and the Rosso di Montalcino, a younger, more approachable interpretation of the same terroir. Sangiovese in Montalcino develops the characteristic tension between tannin and acidity that defines the zone—wines built for cellaring, marked by dark cherry, earth, and mineral notes. The winery's releases have been assessed by Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, and Falstaff.
