Poggio Stella produces wines from Cortona, in the heart of Toscana. The winery's portfolio centers on Sangiovese and Montepulciano, the classical grapes of Central Italy's rolling hills. Its Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva—a Sangiovese-based wine—represents the upper tier of the range, followed by the standard Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Rosso di Montepulciano, made from Montepulciano grapes, offers a more approachable expression. All three wines have been evaluated by major critics including Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Falstaff, and Decanter. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva achieved an average prestige rating of 89.7, the standard Vino Nobile 88.4, and the Rosso di Montepulciano 87.0.
