Viña Chocalán draws from the Maule Valley, Chile's expansive wine region in the Central Valley. The winery works with the dark-skinned varieties that define the area: Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Cabernet Franc, among others. The Gran Reserva Blend—a five-varietal composition of Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Petit Verdot, and Malbec with Cabernet Franc—represents the winery's approach to structured, complex reds. The Origen Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserva Cabernet Franc follow, each built on single varietals from the region's terroir. Wine Spectator and Decanter have rated the winery's portfolio, with the Gran Reserva Blend earning particular recognition among prestige critics.
