Winzergenossenschaft Mayschoss-Altenahr
Winzergenossenschaft Mayschoss-Altenahr is a cooperative winery in the Ahr valley, Germany's northernmost red wine region. The winery draws from vineyard sites around Mayschoss, where steep slopes and a continental climate shape both the Spätburgunder reds and Rieslings for which the valley is known. The Walporzheimer Kräuterberg Spätburgunder Trocken demonstrates the region's capacity for structured, mineral-driven Pinot Noir. Alongside dry reds, the winery produces noble sweet wines: the Mayschosser Mönchberg Riesling Eiswein and Mayschoss Mönchberg Riesling Auslese both capture the concentrated fruit and acidity characteristic of Riesling in cool-climate Germany. Falstaff has rated the winery's top expressions.
