Question 1

Is it worth going out of your way for?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you want a classic, ceremonious San Francisco seafood experience focused on whole Dungeness crab and a daily catch recitation, served with white-jacket formality unchanged for decades.

Question 2

Who is it for?

Accepted Answer

Groups and families celebrating with straightforward, high-quality seafood, or anyone seeking a nostalgic, waterfront meal driven by the morning's catch rather than a modern tasting menu.

Question 3

What should you order?

Accepted Answer

Listen to the server's recitation of the daily catch and order from it. The whole roasted Dungeness crab is the signature, demanding full physical commitment. Shareable classics like cioppino and clam chowder are also strengths.

Question 4

How do you get a table?

Accepted Answer

Reservations are accepted directly with the restaurant, and walk-ins are welcome.

Question 5

Anything to know before you go?

Accepted Answer

The pace is deliberate and the service is formal. Come ready to engage with whole crab—servers advise removing rings. It's a block away from the Wharf's main redevelopment, operating in its own timeless register.
