Akilia

Akilia operates in Bierzo, the mountainous northwestern corner of Castilla y León, where Atlantic influence and altitude shape distinctive wines. The winery works with the region's native varieties: Mencía, the dark-skinned grape that defines Bierzo's reds, and the white duo of Palomino and Doña Blanca. Valdesacia, a white blend of Palomino and Doña Blanca, represents the winery's approach to the region's mineral, structured whites. Villarín, made from Mencía, captures the variety's characteristic red-fruit profile and tannin architecture. K Blanco, another Palomino and Doña Blanca expression, rounds out a focused portfolio. Wine Advocate and Decanter have both assessed the winery's output, with Valdesacia and Villarín earning particular recognition among prestige critics.
