Boplaas produces fortified and white wines from Western Cape fruit, anchored by two distinct expressions. The Cape Vintage Reserve Port blends Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, and Souzao—Portuguese varieties that bring structure and dark fruit to the fortified category. On the white side, the Gamka Reserve Branca layers Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, and Verdelho into a complex, multi-varietal blend. A third offering, the Cape Winemakers Guild Cape Vintage Auction Reserve, reunites the Portuguese red grapes in a separate bottling. Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, Falstaff, and Decanter have all assessed the portfolio. The winery's focus on fortified reds and textured whites reflects the broader character of South African winemaking—technical precision applied to both Old World grape traditions and New World fruit sources.
