Erich Meier produces wine in Zürich, Switzerland's smallest wine region by volume but a historic source of distinctive Pinot Noir and the indigenous white variety Räuschling. The winery's Pinot Noir Kirche, made from low-yielding vines on steep lakeside slopes, has drawn attention from major critics including Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, and Falstaff. A second Pinot Noir expression, Pinot Noir Barrique, shows the variety's capacity for oak aging in this cool continental climate. The Räuschling—a mineral, high-acid white unique to the region—rounds out the portfolio. Zürich's short growing season and limestone-rich soils create conditions for wines of precision and restraint, where ripeness is earned rather than assumed.
