Fedellos do Couto operates in Ribeira Sacra, Galicia's steep-terraced wine region in northwestern Spain, where granite slopes and Atlantic influence shape distinctive red wines. The winery works with indigenous and regional varieties suited to the terrain: Trousseau, Mencia, Garnacha Tintorera, and Grao Negro. Bastarda, a Trousseau-based wine, represents the winery's highest-rated expression. Peixes da Rocha blends Mencia with Garnacha Tintorera and Grao Negro, while Lomba dos Ares focuses on Mencia alone. These wines have been assessed by Wine Advocate and Decanter. Ribeira Sacra's challenging topography and cool climate produce wines of structure and minerality, with Mencia as the region's signature variety—capable of both freshness and depth depending on site and vintage.
