G. Descombes

G. Descombes works the volcanic soils of Morgon, in the heart of Beaujolais, where Gamay thrives on granite and schist. The winery's Brouilly Vieilles Vignes—made from old-vine Gamay—demonstrates the mineral precision and structure that distinguish the region's finest expressions. Régnié, another Gamay-based wine, shows the lighter, more delicate character typical of its appellation. A Beaujolais Blanc rounds the portfolio, offering the crisp, mineral profile that Chardonnay achieves in this cool continental climate. These wines reflect the terroir-driven approach central to Beaujolais winemaking: low intervention, respect for the fruit, and the particular geology that gives each cru its voice. Wine Spectator has rated the portfolio.
