Ivan Katunar

Ivan Katunar produces wines from Hrvatsko Primorje, the coastal wine region of Istria and Kvarner in Croatia. The winery focuses on indigenous varieties suited to the Adriatic climate and limestone soils of the area. Zlahtina, a white grape native to the region, forms the backbone of the portfolio. The flagship Sv. Ivan, made from Zlahtina, demonstrates the variety's mineral character and structure. Sansigot, crafted from Suscan—another local variety—offers a different expression of the terroir. A second Zlahtina bottling rounds out the core range. Wine Advocate and Decanter have both assessed the winery's output, with Sv. Ivan earning particular recognition among prestige critics. The wines reflect the specificity of Hrvatsko Primorje: a maritime setting where traditional varieties thrive in conditions shaped by sea influence and local geology.
