Mariposa produces wines from Dão, the granite-bedded heart of Central Portugal's Beiras region. The winery works with the indigenous varieties that define the appellation: Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro Preto, and Touriga Nacional in red blends; Cerceal Branco, Bical, and Encruzado among whites. The Reserva, a field blend of those three dark grapes, anchors the portfolio. Sombrio Lúcia Freitas, a white from Cerceal Branco, Bical, and Encruzado, sits alongside a single-varietal Encruzado that showcases the mineral precision Dão whites are prized for. Wine Enthusiast and Wine Advocate have rated across the range. The wines reflect Dão's cool-climate signature: structure, acidity, and the mineral imprint of schist soil.
