Promessa

Promessa produces wines in Lazio, the central Italian region that stretches from Rome toward the Tyrrhenian coast. The winery focuses on southern Italian varieties—Negroamaro and Primitivo—grapes that thrive in warm climates and yield structured, dark-fruited reds. The Negroamaro, a varietal expression of the Negroamaro grape, represents the winery's core offering and has been assessed by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and Wine Advocate. The Rosso Salento, a blend of Primitivo and Negroamaro, shows the interplay between these two varieties: Primitivo brings ripe fruit and spice, while Negroamaro adds tannin and depth. A single-varietal Primitivo rounds out the portfolio. These wines reflect the character of their grapes—dark, earthy, and built for food pairing rather than immediate charm.
