Schola Sarmenti works with the native grapes of Puglia, Italy's southernmost wine region. The winery focuses on Primitivo and Negroamaro, varieties that thrive in the region's warm climate and produce wines of depth and structure. The Nauna Primitivo–Negroamaro blend and the single-varietal Diciotto and Cubardi Primitivos form the core of the portfolio. These wines have been assessed by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, and Decanter. Puglia's terroir—characterized by limestone soils and Mediterranean conditions—shapes the character of wines from this corner of southern Italy, where Primitivo in particular develops ripe fruit and savory complexity.
