Smith Woodhouse produces Port wines from the Douro Valley in Northern Portugal, drawing on the region's steep terraced vineyards and schist soils. The winery's portfolio centers on traditional fortified expressions: Vintage Port, Late Bottled Vintage Port, and Colheita (Single Year Tawny). Each wine blends the classic Douro red varieties—Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Cão—in different proportions. Vintage Port, the most concentrated expression, marries the power and structure these grapes develop in the region's warm continental climate with the aging potential that defines the category. Late Bottled Vintage Port offers similar complexity with slightly earlier drinkability, while Colheita Port showcases the oxidative aging and amber hues characteristic of tawny styles. The wines have been assessed by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Falstaff, Wine Advocate, and Decanter.
