Venica & Venica works the limestone and marl soils of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in Italy's far northeast, where Alpine influence and Adriatic proximity shape wines of mineral precision. The winery focuses on indigenous varieties that thrive in this distinctive terroir. Schioppettino, a dark-skinned grape with deep regional roots, yields structured reds that have drawn recognition from Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, Falstaff, and Decanter. The whites show equal command: Primarűl Friulano and Ribolla Gialla, both native to the region, express the area's signature salinity and acidity. Friuli's cool growing season extends ripening, building complexity in grapes that might seem austere elsewhere. These are wines built on terroir and varietal authenticity rather than extraction or oak.
