Viento produces wines from Oregon's Columbia Gorge, a region defined by dramatic elevation changes and the cooling influence of Pacific winds funneling through the gorge. The winery focuses on Riesling and Pinot Noir, varieties that thrive in the area's variable microclimates. The Columbia Gorge Vineyard Retro Riesling and Dry Riesling—both rated 90.1 by prestige critics Wine Enthusiast and Wine Advocate—demonstrate the range possible within the varietal. The Annala Vineyard Pinot Noir, rated 90.0, rounds out the portfolio. These wines reflect the terroir of their specific vineyard sites, where cool nights and diurnal temperature swings preserve acidity and develop complexity in both white and red varieties.
