Weingut Philipp Grassl sits in Carnuntum, Austria's easternmost wine region, where continental climate and loess-rich soils shape wines of depth and structure. The winery focuses on red blends anchored in Zweigelt, Austria's signature dark grape, often paired with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Bärnreiser Reserve—a Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot blend—and its sibling Bärnreiser, built from Merlot, Zweigelt, and Blaufränkisch, represent the house's command of Carnuntum's red potential. Both have earned recognition from Falstaff and Wine Advocate. The winery also produces Welschriesling, the crisp white varietal native to the region.
