Wölffer Estate

Wölffer Estate produces wines on Long Island, New York, drawing from the region's maritime climate and glacial soils. The winery's portfolio centers on Merlot, a natural fit for the North Fork's terroir, alongside late-harvest expressions that capture the region's capacity for noble rot. Descencia Late Harvest Botrytis, a blend of Chardonnay and Riesling, represents the winery's work with botrytized fruit, as does Diosa Late Harvest, made from Chardonnay alone. These wines have been assessed by Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, Decanter, Wine Spectator, and Falstaff. Long Island's cool growing season and Atlantic influence create conditions suited to both dry table wines and the concentrated, sweet wines that emerge when conditions favor Botrytis cinerea.
