Müller-Catoir

Müller-Catoir produces wines from the Pfalz, Germany's warmest wine region, where the continental climate and sandy soils favor ripe, expressive fruit. The winery specializes in noble sweet wines—Trockenbeerenauslese—crafted from Riesling and Rieslaner, a crossing that combines Riesling's aromatic complexity with higher natural sugar potential. The Mussbacher Eselshaut Rieslaner Trockenbeerenauslese and Herzog Rieslaner Trockenbeerenauslese represent the pinnacle of this work, achieving extraordinary concentration and balance. A Riesling-based Trockenbeerenauslese from the Breumel in den Mauern vineyard rounds out the portfolio. These wines have been assessed by Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Falstaff, and Decanter. The Pfalz's warm growing season allows for the development of botrytis—noble rot—essential to the Trockenbeerenauslese style, where shriveled berries yield intensely sweet, honeyed wines with remarkable acidity and aging potential.
