Quinta do Vesuvio sits in the Douro valley of Northern Portugal, where steep terraced vineyards and schist soils define one of the world's most demanding wine regions. The estate works with the classic Port varieties—Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Amarela—grapes bred for concentration and structure in a continental climate. The flagship Capela da Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port, a blend of five of these varieties, has drawn assessment from Wine Advocate, Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, Falstaff, and Wine Spectator. The Douro red, built on Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela, and Touriga Nacional, represents the estate's work beyond fortified wine. Both reflect the intensity and aging potential the Douro demands of its producers.
