The Valles de Benavente region is characterized by its diverse geographical features, which include a complex network of valleys, plateaus, and mountains (Figure 1). This rugged terrain, combined with the area's continental climate, results in a distinct terroir that influences the unique characteristics of the wines produced here.
Wine Style: A Rich Tapestry of Tradition
The Valles de Benavente wine region is renowned for its red wines, which are typically made from grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, and Albileras (Table 1). These grapes thrive in the region's clay-limestone soils and benefit from the long sunny growing season. The resulting wines exhibit a complex array of flavors, including notes of ripe red fruit, leather, tobacco, and spice.
