Niepoort operates in the Douro, the steep-terraced river valley of northern Portugal where schist soils and continental climate shape some of the world's most complex wines. The winery's portfolio spans the region's traditional fortified styles and dry table wines, drawing on indigenous varieties that thrive in this demanding terrain. Porto Garrafeira, a blend of eight Portuguese grapes including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca, represents the fortified tradition at its most layered. Lote D, built on Baga—a variety known for structure and aging potential—and Douro Ultreia, a Tinta Roriz expression, anchor the dry wine range. These wines have been assessed by Wine Advocate, Decanter, Wine Spectator, Falstaff, and Wine Enthusiast, reflecting the winery's standing among international critics.
